Tents

To find the best tent you need to ask yourself what you’ll be using it for. Are you going to be going on a multi-day backpacking trip and in need of a lighter tent? Will you be traveling by car and more worried about a budget-friendly tent big enough for the whole family? I have listed several options below that are highly recommended for each scenario. Click on the links and start getting excited about your next camping adventure!

Family:
Coleman 6-Person Instant Tent (budget friendly, rainfly separate)

Sleeping Bags

Wenzel Grande – best all-around bag for typical camping trips
Kelty Callisto 20 – lightweight, great bag for multi-day backcountry trips
TETON Sports Mammoth Double – tandem bag, fits 2 adults comfortably
Kelty Cosmic 0 Degree – best affordable cold-weather bag on the market

Mattresses, Pads & Hammocks

Mattress: I’m sure there are probably more luxurious air mattresses and pads out there but I have been using the Lightspeed Outdoors for several years now and it has never let me down. The setup and take-down are extremely quick, the mattress stays firm all night, and it’s a comfortable sleep. The price isn’t that bad either. The only complaint I have is that it is somewhat bulky rolled up but well worth it after a long-day hiking on your feet.

Sleeping Pad: If you are looking for something that packs down a little smaller, check out the Nemo Tensor. At only 15 oz, this is the pad you won’t mind hauling around with you all day.

Hammock:

ENO DoubleNest  – Very popular, compact, durable, and lightweight
Castaway Travel Hammock – Low budget, single hammock

Gear

Nemo Fillo Pillow
This pillow is seriously a must-have! The comfort level is up there with the pillow you use every night and it packs into a small roll that will fit in any size pack you have with you. Seriously, do yourself a favor and buy one!
